Important information
Vicks Sinex Soother 0.5 mg/ml nasal spray has a decongestant effect on the mucous membrane in the nose and is used to clear a blocked nose in association with a cold or sinusitis.
Do not use Vicks Sinex Soother if:
• you are hypersensitive/allergic to the active substance Oxymetazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of Vicks Sinex Soother.
• you are taking (or have taken during the last two weeks) monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors are used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and depression).
• you suffer from acute coronary disease or cardiac asthma.
• you suffer from narrow-angle glaucoma.
• you have had an operation to remove your pituitary gland.
• the skin or mucous membranes of the nostrils are inflamed or have scabs.
As with all medicines, please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even those not prescribed.
Do not use Vicks Sinex Soother 0.5 mg/ml nasal spray if you have during the last two weeks taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors are used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and depression).
Please inform your doctor before use if you are taking tricyclic antidepressants or Bethanidine, Debrisoquine and Guanethidine (medicines used in the treatment of high blood pressure).
Treatment with Vicks Sinex Soother 0.5 mg/ml nasal spray may be affected if this medicine is taken at the same time as Bromocriptine (drug used in Parkinson's disease).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Always consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this or any other medicine, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
No effect on the ability to drive or use machines has been observed.
Like all medicines, Vicks Sinex Soother nasal spray can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The less common (occurring in fewer than 1 in 100 users) side effects are sneezing, dryness or irritation in the nose, mouth and throat. The rare (occurring in fewer than 1 in 1,000 users) include restlessness, fatigue, irritability, disturbed sleep in children, effects on the heart, raised blood pressure, blocked nose, headache, nausea, flushing, rash and visual disturbances.
Vicks Sinex Soother nasal spray should be used before the expiry date stated on the package, and stored below 25°C. As with all pharmaceutical products, keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Vicks Sinex Soother nasal spray after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
Ingredients:
The active substance is: Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg/ml.
The other ingredients are: Sorbitol, sodium citrate dihydrate, tyloxapol, chlorhexidine digluconate solution, citric acid anhydrous, aloes dry extract, benzalkonium chloride solution, acesulfame potassium, menthol (levo), cineole, disodium edetate (dihydrate), carvone (levo), sodium hydroxide, purified water.
